Bikeability - Kent Cycle Training

“ON YOUR BIKES!” ordered Mr Groves…and so they did!

Year 6 have been really challenging themselves this week as they have all been training for their Bikeability levels 1 and 2.  Bikeability is a National Standard cycle training course comprising of 3 levels designed to give the next generation the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today’s roads. They started off with a morning on the playground learning the basics including signalling then each group has been let loose on the roads of Ash for a day under the supervision of the brave instructors from Kent County Council (KCC).  Apart from one pupil’s slight wobble while rounding a corner, everything seems to be going very well and they are all having a fabulous time out in the fresh air, keeping fit and gaining more of those key skills which will help them to be safe and independent in the future. For now, they are going home each night ‘tyred’ but happy.
