Sports

At St Faith's at Ash we believe that physical activity is important to both the physical and emotional development of your child. Sport encourages team spirit and promotes determination and honesty, skills that readily transfer into everyday life.

We are really lucky with our facilities and we try to make the most of them. We have a large games field for cricket, rounders, football and athletics, a hard play area for netball and hockey, a heated outdoor swimming pool and two large indoor halls.

During the Summer of 2009, we built a large all-weather sports court, for Hockey, Netball, 5-a-side Football, Tennis, PE and anything else we can think of! State of the art modern surface, toughened side netting … it is wonderful. More importantly, we can now train, play matches and run clubs there after 3pm, when we used to have to leave the playground as it became a car park for collection time at the end of the day.

I know that the school does not look this big from the road but we do have all of these, really ….. Come and see us!

We have recently extended sport at St Faith's at Ash so all children participate in a wider range of sports now, with representative teams selected for various fixtures. It is great fun: boys and girls play summer sports in mixed groups and now nearly every child in the Upper School represents St Faith's at Ash in one sport or another!

Sport begins in the Lower Nursery, with apparatus sessions in one of the halls, and continues through the Lower School, with dance, PE, football, rounders, cricket, athletics and swimming added as the children progress through to the end of Year 2.

In the Upper School, Years 3 and 4 have two afternoons of Sport each week, and Years 5 and 6 have the same. In the summer, the sports were cricket, rounders, athletics and swimming. In the winter there will be swimming, until it becomes too cold when they get out of the pool, football, netball, hockey, cross country and dance.

There are also a variety of clubs, some of which enhance the sports they play regularly, such as rounders and cricket and swimming, and other such as tennis which introduce children to yet another sport.
